Data Dump
In 2024, for the first time, I kept a log of most all of the new releases I listened to. I’ve tidied the log up and you can find it below. There are so many—so many—records that we don’t cover on Redshift. We write about things about which we have something to say; many releases both fantastic and woeful don’t quite fit into that category. But, at least personally, I think it’s important for the blog to give some level of comprehensive insight into music I listen to.
I haven’t labelled any of the entries by genre, unfortunately, but if there’s a particular sound you want to explore then DM and I can point you in the direction of a good record! There are plenty in here!
If you unzip the spreadsheet, you will find that I rated pretty much everything within a fairly narrow, positive band. The reason for this is that I rarely listen to things I really dislike all the way through. This is not a particularly robust trait of someone who writes about music but still it is not hard to understand why. If it means anything, I try to rate according to an imagined normal distribution with mean 50 and standard deviation, like, 17?
